ctfmona and others

I was hit by a virus a few days ago, but Mcafee got most of it. However, I think a few pieces of malware got in too. When I start up, the process ctfmona.exe shows up. I looked on the Mcafee website, and I found a forum post saying that it was a harmful process, but did not give any removal instructions. Can you tell me how to get rid of this and any other evil little programs that may have gotten through?

As I am still on training, everything that I post to you, must be checked by a Teacher. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long.

• Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.

Update Your Windows XP.
You are currently using an unpatched version of Windows XP!
Is there any reason why you have not updated Windows?

Before attempting to remove malware, it is CRITICAL that you update to Service Pack 1a.
Get SP1a here : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/default.mspx
You should also get SP2 and SP3, but NOT NOW, rather only after your machine is clean.
After updating your Windows to SP1a restart your computer

Then please go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and right click on HijackThis.exe

• Select Rename.
• Type in scanner and press Enter.
• Double click on scanner to run it.
• Select Do a system scan and save a logfile. Please post back this log in your next reply.

Uninstall List

• Open HijackThis.
• Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
• Look under System tools.
• Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
• Click on the Save list... button.
• It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
• Notepad will open. Please copy and paste the contents of this log in your next reply.

• Click the Browse... button
• Navigate to the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\szjp684.exe
• Click the Open button
• Click the Send button
• Copy and paste the results back here please.
