Hello and welcome to the forums

My name is flashh4 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:
1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
3. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)
4. Please note you'll need to have Administrator priviledges to perform the fixes. (XP accounts are Administrator by default)
5. Please let me know if you are using a computer with multiple accounts, as this can affect the instructions given.

If you can do those things, everything should go smoothly

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Note: I am still in training at Malware Removal, however I will be working under the direct supervision of one of our Malware Experts. Any recommendations will first be approved before being given to you. Because of this, there may be a short delay in getting our responses to you, however be assured that we will be working diligently on your problem.

I will be back as soon as possible with a fix !!
Thanks
Chuck

O.k... Sounds good... The computer I'm on is a single user laptop... Sony Vaio... With Windows XP... Like I said, none of the adware programs can detect my problem, but when ever I get on line, I keep getting a "Get rid of malware" window, and it keeps sending me to a page that wants to run a scan... bla bla bla, I'm sure you know the story... Again, thanks for any help...

Howdy galaxian, I need to see an Uninstall list !
  1. Open HijackThis.
  2. Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
  3. Look under System tools.
  4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  5. Click on the Save list... button.
  6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  7. Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

NEXT

: Download and Run FixWarout
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/lo ... areout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

If you now cannot access the internet, please follow these steps:
  • Select Start->Control Panel->Network Connections
  • Right click your default connection, usually Local Area Connection (or Dial-up Connection if you are using dial-up) and select Properties
  • Under This connection uses the following items, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and press the Properties button
  • Select the radio button that says Use the following DNS server addresses:
  • Then enter the following IP addresses into the Preferred and Alternate IP address boxes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
  • Then click OK twice

Next we need to
FLUSHDNS

Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

  • Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
  • Click on the "Fix Checked" button
  • When completed, close the application.
Now lets check some settings on your system.

(2000/XP) Only
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Click the Networking tab. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable on some systems

Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt

Please post these in next reply to this post:
1. Uninstall list
2. fixwareout\report.txt
3. New HJT log

Thanks

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
