Hi, and firstly sorry for delay, had to work unfortunately this doesn't pay my bills.

Download and Install CCleaner
  • Download CCleaner from here . Choose the Slim version.
  • Double click on ccsetupXXX_slim.exe to start the installation of CCleaner. (XXX is the version number)
  • Click OK
  • Click Next
  • Click I agree
  • Click Next
  • Click Install
  • Once the installation has finished, click Finish

-------------------------------

Set Options in CCleaner and run Cleaning Scan.
Open CCleaner if it's not already running.
( Do not use the Registry block to clean anything with this program. It is for experts only and it is risky).
  • Select Cleaner Settings.
Check Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer, and System so that all items are checked. In the Advanced section, have a check only on Old PreFetch Data.
  • Click on the Options block on the left. Select Advanced.
Uncheck Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours.
  • Set Cookie Retention.
Click on the Options block on the left, then choose Cookies.
Under the Cookies to delete pane, highlight any cookies you would like to retain permanently (those companies or sites with which you regularly visit or do business), and click the right arrow > to move them to the Cookies to keep pane.
  • Run Cleaning Scan. Click on the Cleaner block on the left. Choose the Windows tab.
Click the Run Cleaner button. This process could take a while. When CCleaner shows how much has been removed, cleaning is finished.

----------------------------------

Retrieve the Installed Programs List from CCleaner
Open CCleaner if it's not already running.
In the Left Pane, click Tools
Verify that Uninstall is highlighted in color, or click on it.
In the lower Right, click Save to Text File.
Pull down the arrow at the top of the Save dialog and choose Desktop as the location.
You can leave the filename as install.txt
Click Save
Exit CCleaner by clicking on the X button in the upper right of the CCleaner window.

-------------------------------

Download OTMoveIt2 by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below.
Code: Select all

  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

Hi,
Well, I finished your wonderful , easily understood instructions, thank you!! i had to start it this evening because i was called in to work today!! ( More Money!) I included in this post, the installed program list( i think) , the malwarbytes log and the new highjackthis log. I had posted the otmovei report but when i went to post the other three, that one was missing. Do you want me to do that procedure again? I didn't want to do anything unless you told me to, I want my computer to run smooth again with all my programs. While the Malwarebytes Anti- Malware was scanning, it seems my Macafee Virusscan on Access Scan sent me this message of a virusscan alert detected as Vundo, EICAR test file , and Vundo. As much as Macafee scans, it never gave me any messages till now. Do these Trojans prevent our Macafee from scanning for the virus?

Does this mean my computer is clean now? What else should we do to make sure the virus and spyware are gone?

Again, thanks for your help!!

Unread postby dan12 » May 6th, 2008, 4:36 am

Hi,

Go to C:\_OTMoveIt. Underneath this folder is a single sub-folder named MovedFiles.
Look inside you will see several files and folders with file extentions .log .res .zip
double click the .log which should show the otmoveit report copy and paste that report to me also.

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)

O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [3UdNm0kaEO] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\uhkdalsz\kfstmlsl.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [gW1uLNGyXz] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\uhkdalsz\kfstmlsl.exe

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Code: Select all
Folder::
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\uhkdalsz

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt"

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Please include in your next post:
  • otmoveit report
  • Combofix log txt
  • New highjackthis log

Thanks dan

Submit a File For Analysis
We need to have the files below Scanned by Uploading them/it to Jotti

Please visit Jotti
Copy/paste the the following file path into the window
C:\WINDOWS\002275_.tmp
Click Submit/Send File
Please post back, to let me know the results.

If Jotti is too busy please try Virustotal

1 - Kaspersky Online Scan
With the exception of Internet Explorer, which must be used for this scan, keep ALL programs closed
Please do an online scan with >Kaspersky Online Scanner<. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75%. Once the licence accepted, reset to 100%.
  • The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
  • Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)
    o Scan Options:
    + Scan Archives
    + Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Please do not use your computer while the scan is running. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Click the Save Report As... button (see red arrow below)

    Image

  • In the Save as... prompt, select Desktop
  • In the File name box, name the file KasScan-ddmmyy (or similar)
  • In the Save as type prompt, select Text file (see below)

    Image

  • Copy and paste the report in your next post.
Note: It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans so there are no conflicts and to speed up scan time.
Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once scan is finished remember to re-enable resident antivirus protection along with whatever antispyware application you use.

post kaspersky scan and jott's report.
Thanks dan

ATTENTION: VirusTotal is a free service offered by Hispasec Sistemas. There are no guarantees about the availability and continuity of this service. Although the detection rate afforded by the use of multiple antivirus engines is far superior to that offered by just one product, these results DO NOT guarantee the harmlessness of a file. Currently, there is not any solution that offers a 100% effectiveness rate for detecting viruses and malware.

Re: help with malware removal

Unread postby dan12 » May 6th, 2008, 12:00 pm

my Macafee Virusscan on Access Scan sent me this message of a virusscan alert detected as Vundo, EICAR test file , and Vundo.

Well the only file kaspersky picked up was the same as your a\v picked up > C:\QUARANTINE\Av-test.txt.Vir --> EICAR-Test-File
It's harmless as EICAR is a special test for virus scanners. you can delet it if you wish.

  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below.
Code: Select all
C:\WINDOWS\002275_.tmp
C:\QUARANTINE\Av-test.txt.Vir

  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2

Post the otmoveit report.

How are things with your system at this moment in time?
