P2P Warning!

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

LimeWire and uTorrent

Please note that as long as you are using any form of Peer-to-Peer networking and downloading files from non-documented sources, you can expect infestations of malware to occur
Once upon a time, P2P file sharing was fairly safe. That is no longer true. You may continue to use P2P sharing at your own risk; however, please keep in mind that this practice may be the source of your current malware infestation

I'd like you to read the Guidelines for P2P Programs where we explain why it's not a good idea to have them.

References for the risk of these programs can be found in these links: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/protection.mspx
http://www.techweb.com/wire/160500554
http://www.internetworldstats.com/articles/art053.htm

I would recommend that you uninstall LimeWire and uTorrent, however that choice is up to you.
If you wish to keep it, please do not use it until your computer is cleaned.

Hey Dan, sorry for not responding. I've been away from my computer for a couple of days.

Anyway, I've followed your instructions and my computer is running great now. I've included my logs from OTMoveIt and HijackThis. I haven't had a chance the online malware scanner yet, but I'll do that in the next day or so. Thanks again.

Copy/paste the following text into a new Notepad document. (You must use Notepad, NOT Wordpad). Make sure that you have NO blank lines at the beginning of the document before REGEDIT4, and ONE blank line at the end of the document as shown in the coded text:

Code: Select all
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\lsa]
"Authentication Packages"=hex(7):6d,73,76,31,5f,30,00,00

Save it to your desktop as Fixme.reg. Save it as follows...
File Type: "All Files" (not as a text document or it wont work).
Name: Fixme.reg

Locate Fixme.reg on your desktop and double-click it. When asked if you want to merge with the registry, click YES. Wait for the merged successfully prompt.

Let me have the Eset scan report when done.
Thanks dan

Most of what eset found will be dealt with when we remove the tools used.
Can I see a new HJT log as it's been a few days.
Thanks dan :)

This should cleanup most of the tools we used.

Double click on OTMoveIt2.

Click on CleanUp!.

You will receive a prompt that it has finished downloaded a list. Click OK.

After this, it will prompt you to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

Is your AVG 7 active and upto date?

Done.

My AVG is disabled and turned off. When I open it and try to update it, it give me this error message:

"Update was unsuccessful

Can not initialize the update interface. Installation of AVG Free Dition is probably damamged. Pleae reinstall AVG Free Edition."

Should I just reinstall and make it active and up to date?

Does spyware doctor have an antivirus and firewall bundled with it.? as we only want one a\v and one firewall on the pc.
If you decide to remove avg7 via add and remove programs I will give you some links to free products.
You would be best to download first, come off the Internet, uninstall your old a\v then install the new one connect to the net and obtain all your updates.

I've having trouble reinstalling AVG, so if you have any recommended programs, I'd be eager to hear them. I don't think there's any antivirus that comes with PC Doctor.

After that, am I pretty much all set? Thanks for all of your help!
