What in the weird?!

Unread postby Pietzki » April 8th, 2008, 3:05 pm

I've just discovered (upon googling myself) that there are certain forums that copy content off yahoo q&a. For example, I found a forum called 'creditcardforums' which has a profile for me with only one post. The post is one that I made on yahoo q&a and is copied word for word.. Naturally I don't like the idea of there being a profile, which I cannot access, under my username with a post actually written by me, but not for that site. It makes me feel slightly uneasy...

What would you make of this?

By the way, I found more sites (forums) like this doing the exact same thing..

Not that weird unfortunately, plagiarism online is quite rife as is impersonation. How to combat it effectively I honestly do not know, maybe some one who is more ofay with this sort of thing may answer.

It intrigued myself though and search for my nickname was both quite amusing and revealing, I had no idea I was such a hard core gamer :o to name but one example.

i think its something that they(websites) do this to make their site search-able or have more people visit their site, most especially if they have some sort of advertisements going on like google adsense.

I had this problem the other day
Someone was impersonating me
I was notified by a friend that a rival pchelp forum newly set up had a member Blackmirror

I had a look and they were trying to be me :D
They made a few mistakes
I am British i do not join a forum and say Hi Guys !!!!!!!!!!! thats a very American term
Hello yes

I had to contact the admin and get them to remove the posts and me

Cheek of it :D
