A little slow need some startup help

Unread postby minibike132 » February 8th, 2008, 12:43 am

This is not a big deal I'm just obsessive compulsive. I had an symantec error message today, nothing big ccApp not synching correctly, I fixed that and in the process had to uncheck and check ccApp in startup. This sent me off into a frenzy of updating things I haven't had time to deal with in months. I ran a Secunia scan and updated Adobe Reader, QuickTime, iTunes, Firefox, Realplayer, and tried to update flash and Sun java so far unsuccessful in those two. After my updates my start up was way slow so went back to msconfig and checked all the startup items. I unchecked a bunch of stuff and increased some, but I still have some issues and some questions.

In my startup list is SSBkdupdate, I searched for this and can't find anything that's really helpful in knowing what it is. Also dumprep0 -k in my search is used in connection with memory dumps. I don't really know what memory dumps or why. Lastly I have Adobe photo downloader auto starting and I do not need it to.

I will attach a HJT log and HJT full startup list log. Any help is much appreciated.

Here is the HJT

Re: A little slow need some startup help

Unread postby Katana » February 13th, 2008, 9:07 pm

Hello and welcome to the forums

My name is Katana and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:
1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
3. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)

If you can do those three things, everything should go smoothly :D

I apologize for the delay in responding, but as you can probably see the forums are quite busy
and sometimes a post manages to slip by us.
Unfortunately there are far more people needing help than there are helpers.

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Unless informed of in advance, failure to post replies within 5 days will result in this thread being closed.

The following items can safely be disabled.

[SynTPEnh] C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe
[ATIPTA] C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe
[SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"
[SSBkgdUpdate] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Scansoft Shared\SSBkgdUpdate\SSBkgdupdate.exe" -Embedding -boot
[PaperPort PTD] C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\PaperPort\pptd40nt.exe
[IndexSearch] C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\PaperPort\IndexSearch.exe
[Adobe Photo Downloader] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.2\Apps\apdproxy.exe"
[KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k
[RemoteControl] "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\PDVDServ.exe"
[ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
[swg] C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNotifier.exe

Just click on each item and then click Disable

Reboot your computer and see if that has helped the boot time.

Due to lack of response this topic is now closed.

If you still need help open a new thread in the Malware Removal forum and wait for a new helper.

If you have been helped and wish to donate to help with the costs of this volunteer site, please read Donations For Malware Removal
