Thank You for your help with removing my virus.

Ok, I visited a dubious site (I know, never again). I do not have antivirus software (I know, I'll get it asap after this is cleaned). I have run adaware and purchased a registry mechanic (to no avail).

Here's what happens. When I open my IE browser I get a pop up window that says "you've been infected with an unknown trojan" and "click here to download the latest anti-spyware". I'm sure they gave me something and are now trying to sell me the cure...arrghhhh... it looks legitimate but no legit company would do such a thing so I have not downloaded it. I thought, what the heck, maybe just pay the 20 bucks and get rid of it, but I don't trust them...

Step 1

I do not have antivirus software

Please get ONE antivirus and install it. Not after your computer is clean. Restart the computer for changes to take effect.

AVG Antivirus Free Edition
avast! 4 Home Edition
AntiVir Free Edition
PC Tools Antivirus

Step 2

Please go to Virus Total or Jotti and upload C:\WINDOWS\VPro610.exe for scanning.

For Virus Total

1. Please copy and paste C:\WINDOWS\VPro610.exe in the text box next to the Browse button.
2. Click on Send File.

For Jotti

1. Please copy and paste C:\WINDOWS\VPro610.exe in the text box next to the Browse button.
2. Click on Submit.

Step 3

1. Please download and install CCleaner Slim.
2. Once installed, double click on the desktop shortcut created.
3. On the leftmost column, click on Tools.
4. On the middle column, click on Uninstall.
5. At the bottom right hand corner, click on the Save to text file... button.
6. By default, it saves this file to C:\Program Files\CCleaner named install.txt. You may want to save it to your desktop to find it easily. Click Save.
7. Close CCleaner.

In your next reply, please post:

1. Virus Total or Jotti's scan results of the file
2. CCleaner install.txt file
3. A new HijackThis log
