Hello Jon,

I will be assisting you with your malware issues.

As I am still a trainee, everything that I post to you, must be checked by an Admin or Moderator. Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts, but it shouldn't be too long.

  • Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
  • Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean! If you have any question or you're stuck in there please reply it to me. I will try my best to help you!
  • Please bookmark or favourite this page. In case you need it as reference or etc.

----------------------------------------------
I need you to post a new HijackThis log.

Your HijackThis log, is messed up and unreadable. This is cause by having Word Wrap checked.
So before posting a new Hijackthis Log:

1. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad
2. On the menu bar in Notepad select Format and click on WordWrap so it appears un-checked.

Now run HijackThis and post back the new log.

Hello jon,

Your log looks clean.
------------------------------------------
Update Adobe Reader
Recently there have been vunerabilities detected in older versions of Adobe Reader. It is strongly suggested that you update to the current version. Adobe Reader 8.
You can download it from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
If you already have Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition installed or do not wish to have it installed UNcheck the box which says Also Download Adobe Photoshop® Album Starter Edition.

Adobe 8 is a large program and if you prefer a smaller program you can get Foxit 2.0 instead frohttp://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php
------------------------------------------
Run Kaspersky Online AV Scanner
Using Internet Explorer Go to http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html and click the Accept button at the end of the page.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.
  • Read the Requirements and limitations before you click Accept.
  • Allow the ActiveX download if necessary.
  • Once the database has downloaded, click Next.
  • Click Scan Settings and change the "Scan using the following antivirus database" from standard to extended and then click OK.
  • Click on "My Computer" and then put the kettle on!
  • When the scan has completed, click Save Report As...
  • Enter a name for the file in the Filename: text box and then click the down arrow to the right of Save as type: and select text file (*.txt)
  • Click Save - by default the file will be saved to your Desktop, but you can change this if you wish.
Copy and paste the report into your next reply

Hi jon,

You didn't copy/paste back all the Kaspersky report. The upper part was cut-off.
Also you didn't post a new HijackThis log.
-----------------------------------------------
Using cracks to download programs is illegal, avoid it, either we will discontinue helping you.
-----------------------------------------------
P2P PROGRAMS

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

Most of the infections on your pc are related to this program, so i am removing it.
emule new.logic.1.1.beta.1a
If you want to download it after we finish cleaning your machine, after reading the articles in this post, you will easily get re-infected.

I'd like you to read the Guidelines for P2P Programs where we explain why it's not a good idea to have them.

Also available here.
-----------------------------------------------
Download OTMoveIt by OldTimer to your Desktop.
  • Double click OTMoveIt.exe to launch it.
  • Copy/Paste the contents of the box below into the left hand pane of OTMoveIt.
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\emule new.logic.1.1.beta.1a
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\launcher.ocx

  • Click the Move It button.
  • The list will be processed and the results will appear in the right hand pane.
  • If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.
  • When finished click Exit to exit the program.
  • A log C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log will be created (where mmddyyyy_hhmmss are numbers giving date and time the log was created).
  • Post the log back here please.
-----------------------------------------------
Please re-run Kaspersky on-line scan, and post back all the report this time .
Run HijackThis again and post back the log.
Tell me how the pc behaves.
