Hi there...

Got some nasties for you to help me with please.
While trying to get the hijack this log, had at least one error, maybe two popped up. this is what came up first:

An unexpected error has occurred at procedure: modMain_CheckOther1Item()
Error #75 - Path/File access error

Please email me at merijn@spywareinfo.com, reporting the following:
* What you were trying to fix when the error occurred, if applicable
* How you can reproduce the error
* A complete HijackThis scan log, if possible

Not sure if what came up after was the same error or something else but i think i clicked through it. can run it again if need be.

Here's the hijackthis log that came up anyway, cheers :

Oh and this came up when i followed the instructions using 'run'

Sorry, didn't really explain what is happening here.
This log is from a collegue's laptop that is getting loads of bogus security popups, adware, homepage takeover etc. I think he's been on some very dubious websites!! Had some strange sucrity icons on the desktop that I couldn't just delete, but adaware or spybot s&d got rid of them. Still getting sys tray popups and web page redirects to security sites though. Have done full system scan with latest Norton security centre.

OOh, just getting a system performance monitor warning now, telling me i should download software to eliminate the spyware causing my 47% performance drop. Nice!!

Just remembered, He's got an annoying toolbar called Security Toolbar 7.1 that looks like it's supposed to block adware, popups and spyware. It doesn't seem to be deletable, uni-installable or able to be made inactive in any way.

Please do not post multiple topic and add posts to them. Helpers look for topics with zero replies. I have notified the helpers that this topic needs a reply.

Also, you need only one user account. Decide which one you want to keep and reply with it in your next reply. The other one will be deactivated.

Since this is a Vista machine, you want to use TrendMicros Hijackthis.

Please delete your current version of HijackThis and the zip file. Download the latest version and save it to your desktop: HJTInstall.exe
  • Double click on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop
  • Click I Accept
  • HijackThis will open
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button.
  • It will scan and then the log will open in notepad.
  • Paste the log as a reply to this thread.
  • Don't use the Analyse This button - its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet.

Also, the other topic has an XP log. Do you have two different computers needing help? Again, we don't allow 2 different usernames for one person. What is the account you want to use?
