Welcome to the Forums.

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!

  • All hijackthis logs I ask for should be done in normal mode ( not safe mode)
  • These logs should be done last after you have followed my instructions in the previous post.

Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
Smitfraud by S!ri

______________________________

  • Double clcik the smitfraud.exe
  • When promted
    Press any key to continue.
  • Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user. When prompted by allow it to run

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!
If you do and smitfraud isn't present it will have undesirable effects

In your next reply I would like to see:
  • A new HJT log
  • Smitfraud.

There still something left to take care of.

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.
___________________________________
Download AVG Anti-Spyware.

  • Install AVG Anti-Spyware.
  • Launch AVG by double-clicking on the icon.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • You will need to update AVG to the latest definition files.

    • At the top of the main screen click Update.

      • Then in the Manual Update section, click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • When updates are completed, close AVG.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update AVG.
AVG manual updates

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

You need to update SunJava for security reasons.
Updating Java:
Download the latest version of
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2... allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the Image icon next to it.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u2-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

From time to time you will be prompted to download active X items.
These items add functionability to certain programs.
In my all clean speech I will ask you to do 2 things to help with this.
spyware blaster: This program is designed to help block known bad active X items.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure
.
Never accept active X items if you do not trust the site there comming from 100%.
Active X items from a known good sites are OK.
You have no bad active X items at this time.
I can see that in the HJT log. ;)

Great news ! Image

Your log now appears to be clean.

Lets do a few things to tidy up.
Please do these in the order I suggest!

You may delete the smitfraudfix .exe now.

Download and install CCleaner from here.
If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for Cookies is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.

Now open the program and click on Run Cleaner
( Do not use the Issues block to clean anything with this program. It is for experts only and it is risky).

You may opt out of cleaning cookies. If you clean them alls you will have to do is retype names and passwords for places you visit on the net 1 time.
If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for Cookies is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla
I clean all my cookies out from time to time. It's not that big a deal if you remember passwords.

REBOOT

Now go right back to the same place and unchecksystem restore

A few things to help with possible threats

These are optional . But will help protect you further.

Download and Install a HOSTS File
A Hosts file is a plain text file which prevents your computer from connecting to malware and spyware sites by redirecting the connection request to 127.0.0.1, which is your local address. If you use a proxy server, or if you are on AOL, be sure to read the special instructions.
You can download the MVPS Hosts File and see a HOSTS file tutorial here :
This website also contains useful tips, and links to other resources and utilities.

Here's a site with great advise on how to AVOID malware. Much easier to do than removing it.

I'm sorry it looks as if my messege is out of date for ccleaner. My appologies.

As for the issues block it is now called registry.
It is to help clean your registry. But I never never ever recommend a program to auto clean a registry . At least without backing up the entire registry first. Playing with your registry can be risky business to say the least. So that's why I recommend you just not use that function.

CCleaner should not be deleting any applications/programs. The only way it might do this is if it ( the program/application) is in a temporary folder.
Windows also has features that clean up temporary directoies.
So it is important that nothing important is kept in and temporary folders.

Such folders are:

c:/windows/temp
C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\temp

__________________________

You can also do this.

Open ccleaner

click the options button on the left.

Then choose exclude.

then choose either file or folder depending on what you want excluded from it's cleaning process.

A browsing window will open
Browse to the file or folder you want to exclude from the search
Once you have it highlighted choose open.

The path to that file or folder will be added and excluded from any cleaning process.

For instance:
If I add
c:/windows/temp to the exclude list. CCleaner will not clean that folder out for me.
