I've always gotten a kick out of answering the phone when someone calls me with..

"Hi! Is Jim there?"

Usually takes a few moments for the caller to remember they called me. The stunned silence you get is pretty funny

When I was younger, my sister and I would tell the telemarketers that our parents weren't there either because they were in prison or they were awaiting trial. They tend to freeze then too. I think my sister might have even told them once that they were in prison for shooting someone who refused to stop calling

Re the original post, that's similar to one I heard some time ago:

Used by father-in-law in answer to cold calls.

hello, no I'm not the house owner. His Lordship is out at the moment. Anything you are trying to ask me for/sell me will have to be passed onto him.

If its money/loans then his lordship will ahev too see his accountant.
If double glazing/guttering etc. This is all dealt with by the Housing Manager.

Thankyou for calling.


(It doesnt matter what the caller is trying to sell everything gets refered to some department of His Lordships estate).

NO IT DOESN'T I've been on the TPS list for some time now, and though it has cut down the number of cold call I get, it has by no means stopped them all (wish it did).

Sorry to hear that, it stopped mine, however if you have, or ever had a financial relationship with a company or any company in there group, it would not stop them calling, but if a company cold calls you, they could be in for a heavy fine, a lot company's I have dealings with in my working life, are scared to death of the TPS.

A lot of the smaller company's are random dialling to try and get around the TPS, at the end of the day, because of the TPS, the data which these company's buy to cold call is getting smaller, so they are turning back to door to door calling.
