Hi

I would be glad to help you with your computer problems.

HijackThis logs take awhile to research. Please be patient with me. I know that you want your problems solved quicky, and I will work hard to help you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

If you can do those two things, everything should go smoothly

Hi ntmd8r

You may want to print out these instructions or save them as a text file with Notepad to your desktop because we will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Read this instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about something

I noticed you are running Spyware Doctor for this fix i would suggest to disable it while you do the fix with HJT

    1. Restart your computer. As your computer restarts, repeatedly press the F8 key on your keyboard until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
    2. Use the arrow key to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
    3. Use an arrow key to select an operating system and press ENTER.
    4. When prompted whether you want your Windows to run in safe mode, click Yes.
Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check the following:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://morwillsearch.com/?adv_id=fish&sub_id=
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank

Press Fix Checked, HJT will prompt you to confirm if you would like to remove those items, select Yes.

    Click Start. Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\POKER3.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\POKER3.EXE

Restart your computer and run HJT and do a new log, post it into this thread, thanks.

Hi ntmd8r and thanks for the log

You now need to do the following:

Press Fix Checked, HJT will prompt you to confirm if you would like to remove those items, select Yes

Now restart Windows back into Normal and post a new log, please.

Hi ntmd8r

CONGRATULATIONS your system is now clean :D

Just one more little job need doing.

We need to re hide system files. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    1. Double-click My Computer.
    2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. Put a check by "Hide file extensions for known file types."
    5. Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
    6. Check "Hide protected operating system files."
    7. Click Apply, and then click OK.

The following are recommended third party programs that are designed to keep your computer clean. A link as well as a brief description is included with each item.

Download Adaware

Adaware is a free program. It scans for known spyware on your computer. These scans should be run at least once every two weeks. For more information, see this
tutorial. The program is available for download here

Download Spybot

Spybot is a scanner like adaware. It scans for spyware and other malicious programs. It is important to have both Adaware and Spybot on your computer because each program provides unique detection and pretection measures. Spybot has preventitive tools that stop programs from even installing on your computer.
To see how to set this up as well as more spybot features, see here
Spybot can be downloaded at this location here

Download SpywareBlaster

Spyware blaster is a program that stops known malicious activex controls from installing on your computer. It works by changing settings in your registry. It makes "kill bits" in the registry, so that certain activex controls can't install.
If you don't know what activex controls are, see here
You can download SpywareBlaster here

UPDATING WINDOWS AND INTERNET EXPLORER

IMPORTANT: You Need to Update Windows and Internet Explorer to protect your computer from the malware that is around on the Internet. Please go to the Windows Update Site to get the critical updates.

If you are running Microsoft Office, or any portion thereof, go to the Microsoft's Office Update site and make sure you have at least all the critical updates installed (Free) Microsoft Office Update.

All the above programs need updating regulary as well as you antivirus software to keep them effective against the malware and other nasties.

If you have any more problems don't hesitate to return .

DOne,,thanks! I already run Adaware,,tried spybot before and didn't care for it but I'll give it a go again. I never use IE,,I run Mozilla's Firefox instead plus Zona ALarm Pro,,I'll see what updates to windows are available but they usually cause more problems than they solve IMO.
