MS Word Problems

Unread postby Peter451 » July 7th, 2005, 5:26 pm

I have recently encountered problems with some Word files. When I open the .doc file, Word dies and gives me the option to notify MS and restart Word. This does not happen with ALL files. Some files allow me to scroll to the second or third page before Word commits sucide, some work just fine and can be edited. Some are older files and some are brand new. Some have been downloaded and some I have created. No ryme or reason for the type of file.

I have tried all the usual stuff (Re-install Word, download all the Office updates, put a hex on Bill Gates, Etc) but nothing seems to work.

I am running an OEM version of Office XP on a clone computer with an Intel processor with Hyper-Thread. About a meg of memory and willing to share anything else I know about this system.

Appreciate any help I can get...

Hello Peter451, welcome to the forum.
Do you know how to turn off Hyper-Thread? Try that and see if that helps.
