big problems return

Unread postby mnewell969 » May 31st, 2007, 9:06 am

I cleared my system restore as you indicated.

I downloaded the latest updates.

I have not set up the adaware, spyblaster and iespyad programs yet. I do have and have used the adaware and spyblaster.

However, today all hell broke loose on my machine. I have something called svchost.exe running and taking up all the cpu time and I cannot log onto my email account. It seems my password has been changed. THis is the scariest problem.

i ran spybot, avg, and vundofix. Spybot found an MS firewall disable and an MS antivirus disable problem and fixed them. AVG found one infected file. Vundofix found nothing. McAfee found one juansearch spyware.

Here are the logfiles i was able to create.

To me your log looks clean. If you had juansearch on your computer it's possible your email password is changed since juansearch is variant of key logger (more info here). I recommend you change all your passwords.

Then you meantioned that svchost.exe is taking all cpu time. Could you check it's full path? If it's c:\windows\system32\svchost.exe then it's legal process. Do you have Windows updates set to automatic? I've read about cases where users who use Windows automatic update complain that svchost.exe has high cpu rates. Microsoft is also aware of this problem and has released some fixes to it (reply #20 here)
