Hi brstapley,

My name is silver and I'm currently looking over your log.

As I am an Undergraduate, everything that I post to you must be checked by an Admin or Moderator so there could be a small delay between posts, we appreciate your patience. I'll be back with some instructions shortly.

Hi brstapley,

First, please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

A logfile C:\vundofix.txt will be created, please post a copy of this with your next response.

Next, please use Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files\HijackThis\ and rename HijackThis.exe to HJT.exe
After renaming, your shortcut(s) to HijackThis won't work any longer, so if you wish to place a new one on the desktop, right-click HJT.exe and choose choose Send To->Desktop (create shortcut)

Now open HijackThis, select Open the Misc Tools section
Press the Open Uninstall Manager... button, then press Save list...
Save the Uninstall log to your deskop and include a copy in your next response.
Now press Back and Scan and then Save log to create and save a new HijackThis log.

Once complete, please post the vundofix.txt file, the uninstall list and a new HijackThis log.

Hi brstapley,

We didn't get the infection that time so we'll have another go at it, but first we need to temporarily disable Windows Defender and Spyware Doctor as they may prevent us making some necessary changes to your system. We will re-enable them once we are done.

Please save/print a copy of these instructions as we will be using Safe Mode during which time you won't have access to the internet. Also, this is a long post so please have a look through first and if you have any questions please ask before proceeding.

Temporarily disable Windows Defender:
  • Right-click on the Windows Defender icon in the system tray [it's the one with the red and yellow bulls-eye]
  • Click on Security Agents Status
  • Click on Disable real-time protection.
  • Next right-click on the Windows Defender icon in the system tray again to open the program
  • Click on the Options menu and choose Settings
  • In the left pane column click on Real Time Protection
  • Under Startup Options, uncheck Enable Security Agents on startup (recommended)
  • Under Real-time spyware threat protection, uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended)
  • Click the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware
  • Finally, right-click on the Windows Defender icon in the system tray and select Shutdown Windows Defender
Temporarily disable Spyware Doctor
  • From within Spyware Doctor, click the OnGuard button on the left side
  • Uncheck Activate OnGuard
Now please use Vundofix again:
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, right-click the white box in the middle and select Add more files?
  • Copy the following into the first and second boxes:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjg.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\xxyayvw.dll

  • Then press Add Files, Close Window and then Remove Vundo
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Then open HijackThis, choose Do a system scan only and place a check-mark next to the following lines (if present):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {28CEA1DA-2199-4AEE-BA75-9032C8450B66} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\xxyayvw.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8572CB55-0B8C-4FF3-8A6A-58565A86931E} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjg.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8CF87B5A-6A1F-4FB9-886D-43677AA2E503} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjj.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {CA6B0A78-F33B-4EED-BC2E-136FB1C12792} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundService] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spmovgaq.dll",setvm
O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvw.dll
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\shdocvw.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: pmkjg - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjg.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: xxyayvw - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\xxyayvw.dll

It looks like you do not have Google Desktop installed, if so, you can also place a check-mark next to this line:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://127.0.0.1:4664/first_usage&s=4NA ... s3JXzuKSJ4

Then close all open windows apart from HijackThis, press Fix checked, OK the prompt and then close HijackThis.

Next download, install, and update AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
Download the installer from this page:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
  • Save the installer to desktop
  • Double click the installer, select your language, and then select OK
  • Click NEXT->Do or don't read the "User License Agreement"
    Select I Agree->NEXT->INSTALL
  • AVG will now install and afterwards click FINISH
  • Click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
  • After the update finishes the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"
  • Close AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. Do not run a scan yet.
Reboot your computer into Safe Mode
To boot into Safe Mode, please restart your computer. Tap F8 before Windows loads.
Select Safe Mode at the top, on the screen that appears.
Sign in with your normal user account

Once in safe mode:
  • Then run AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and click on the Scanner tab at the top
  • Click the Settings tab and then change the recommended action to Quarantine and ensure that Automatically generate report after every scan is selected and Un-check Only if Threats are found
  • Click back to the Scan tab and then click on Complete System Scan.
  • This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.
  • AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action.
  • Click the Apply all actions button. AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 will display All actions have been applied on the right hand side.
  • Click on Save Report, then Save Report As. This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).

Now reboot your computer normally.

Once complete, please post the new vundofix.txt, the AVG Antispyware log along with a new HijackThis log.
