Here is my hijack this log...got something when I went to a website looking for song lyrics! YIKES!
I have run McAffee and Spybot, but the stuff keeps coming back. Have tried to remove what I could find, but alas I am no expert, just a housewife Thank you,

Now close ALL open windows & browsers and click FIX CHECKED



Reboot into Safe Mode.
Tap F8 repeatedly when your machine starts to boot up.
Select 'Safe Mode' from the options that appear.


Set Windows to 'Show all files & folders'.
Click Start > My Computer> Tools> Folder Options>
On the View tab make sure that you:-
Select 'Show Hidden Files & Folders'
Uncheck 'Hide file extensions for known file types'.
Uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'.
Click OK.



Uninstall MyWay Speed Bar via Add/Remove Programs.


Delete the following files in bold:

C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe
C:\WINDOWS\Pynix.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvms.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mscb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\msbe.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xylhfh.exe


Then click on Start > Run and type cleanmgr into the run box.
Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files and Recycle Bin ONLY are checkmarked and click 'OK'.


Reboot and run an online virus scan from any of the following locations making a note of anything they couldn't remove if found:

OK I was following the instructions above but something happened while I was scanning my system with RAVantivirus. When start the computer and log onto my user section my backround screen is there but nothing else. Nothing on my desktop, no bar at the bottom of the screen. nothing but a pretty picture. I am able to do things by doing a ctrl-alt-del and going to a new task, but evn if I try to minimize something it is gone!
What happened and how do I fis it?

You can download it and place on a floppy from another machine if need be.

Your display problem may be because of a corrupted explorer.exe file.

If that is the case you need to restore from the M$ site - based on the status of your current windows and its update status.

I will try to find a link to the M$ site for this.

Re IE over other browsers - a infection via the non IE browsers was only discovered last week - as more people move to the other browsers more of the malware writers will start to target them. If locked down properly IE can be secure - but nothing is 100% safe.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

Bullseye Networks

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config..."
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network\bin\bargains.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32 /u msbe.dll

It's ok, if these aren't found or 'error' out. If you want, just copy and paste the individual lines to the command prompt to save on the typing.
