Hi there, and welcome to the forums!

  • Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.
  • Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.jimbutt.com/stuffs/
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    F1 - win.ini: run=C:\WINNT\..\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MICROS~1\MSInfo\
    O16 - DPF: {75D1F3B2-2A21-11D7-97B9-0010DC2A6243} (SecureLogin.SecureControl) - http://secure2.comned.com/signuptemplat ... curity.cab

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

    Reboot

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

It seems that jimbutt is getting around.

That link is to a self-help page on how to remove.

Remember to change the folder paths to c:\winnt from c:\windows\windows in the instructions for your machine.

Grinley who rights those is good and it will work.

Is also a tutorial I wrote on using killbox which might help you :-

Many thanks for the help Chris. I followed the instructions on the other site but couldn't do the bit with system restore - couldn't find an option on my computer (ME pro). Maybe because my pacs arent up to date??

How do I go about getting the update pacs? dont worry if its a bit cheeky to ask - you helped fix my computer and for that I'm really grateful.

Thanks again

Hi there.
Chris is extremely busy at the moment, so if you don't mind, I will step in for him.

You have somehow reverted back to an old version of HijackThis.
You are using an outdated version of hijackthis.

Please download the latest version from the following link:

HijackThis Download Site

Once it is downloaded, extract the zip file to c:\hjt and navigate to the c:\hjt folder. Now double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens, Press the Scan now and save a logfile button and then when it is done, copy and paste the contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.
