Hi,

I have recently been hijacked by the spysheriff program. How I'm not so sure. I already have a lot of spyware programs, and I have a decent firewall. Please Help, Thank you.

Download Pocket Killbox.
by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file, but don’t use it yet, we’ll do that later on.


Remove SpySheriff with Add/Remove programs

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

SpySheriff

Exit Add or Remove Programs.

Make sure you are disconnected from the Internet and that all programs and windows are closed. Run HiJackThis. Place a check next to the following items, if found, and click FIX CHECKED:


O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpySheriff] C:\Program Files\SpySheriff\SpySheriff.exe

Close HiJackThis.

Delete the following folder, in bold, if found:

C:\Program Files\SpySheriff

Now double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.

Select the Delete on reboot option.

In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following,
C:\Windows\Desktop.html
clicking the 'Delete File' button (red circle with a white X) after pasting:
It will prompt you to reboot, press the NO button.
And repaet it for the following file
C:\winstall.exe



Copy everything inside the quote box below (starting with REGEDIT4). Paste it into Notepad. Go up to "File > Save As", then click the drop-down box to change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fixspy.reg on your desktop. *Make sure there is NO blank line above REGEDIT4

Double-click fixspy.reg on your desktop. When asked if you want to merge with the registry click YES. After the merged successfully prompt, please reboot your computer.

You should be able to change your desktop back to normal now.

Restart your computer
run hijack this and post a new HiJackThis log.

Hi, I have did what you intructed, and everything seemed to be fine. However the next day the spysheriff program caem back, and took over my desktop again. I have just did the same procedure all over again. Here is my updated log. thanks

download and run this scan panda trial
and save the log it makes. please shut off your own antivirus while performing this scan.

restart your computer and run hijack this
place a fresh log on this board together with the outcome of the panda scan
