I think we (=you...) are on to something. I did all you wanted me to, and I think nail.exe has disappeared. Check the logs below.

MRammeloo,
Hello, Bertha will be away for a couple days, if you don't mind I will be reviewing your HJT log.

Please read "ALL" of the instructions before proceeding:

You may want to print out these instructions for a reference or you can
save them by copying and pasting them into notepad and saving the text file to the desktop.

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Download CWShredder
And save it to your desktop.
Close all open browser windows and any other open windows.

Install CWShredder, then:

Open CWShredder and click Check for Updates
Then click "FIX"
Once the the program has finished running, click exit.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  1. Restart your computer
  2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Do not open any new windows.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank

O18 - Protocol: widimg - {EE7C2AFF-5742-44FF-BD0E-E521B0D3C3BA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\btxppanel.dll

Now with HJT click the Fix Checked button. Close HJT.

Enable show hidden files and folders:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Using Windows Explorer find and remove the following folders/files if present:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\btxppanel.dll <-- File

Now lets run CleanUp
*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folder, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp

Running CleanUp
  • Start CleanUp
  • When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
    Uncheck cookies
    This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea.
  • Click OK
  • Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
  • When asked to reboot system select No
  • Close CleanUp

Reboot back into Normal Mode and do the following:

Download FindIt's.zip to your desktop: http://forums.net-integration.net/index.ph...=post&id=142443
  • Create a new folder on your desktop
  • Unzip/extract the files inside that folder you created on your desktop.
  • Open the folder and run FindIt's.bat and wait for notepad to open a text file. It may take awhile so please be patient ...
  • Then post the results here along with a new HJT log by using Add Reply

Thanks,

MRammeloo,
Please download this file
HERE

Unzip it into the FindIt's folder on your desktop. Then double-click on FindIt's2.bat and see if this solves the problem.

Let it run, it will take about 15 minutes or so.
Then post back the results of the scan.

Thanks,

Still no luck. The window disappears immediatly. However, when I try to execute the file from 'DOS', I get an error that some file is in use by another process.

Any clues?

MRammeloo,

OK, lets do this..
Please create a folder on your C:\ drive and rename it C:\FindIT
Download Findit's from here.
http://forums.net-integration.net/index.ph...=post&id=142443

When you unzip the files make sure to unzip it to that location.
Once you have done that, please let me know what files exist in that folder.

Open that folder and run FindIt's.bat and wait for notepad to open a text file. It may take awhile so please be patient ...
Then post the results here.

Thanks,

rstones12,

Still no luck. After unzipping, I see a new folder: Find-It's.

Within this folder are three files:
- FindIt's.bat
- WINREG.EXE
- XFIND.com

Running FindIt's.bat opens a 'DOS window', then immediatly closes it. Hence no notepad file...

MRammeloo,
This is strange, is the new folder in the C:\ directory?

Thanks,

Yes it is in C:\. For some reason all bat and cmd files don't execute properly, no matter where I save them. I was succesful only once, in safe mode, after disabling spam inspector.
