Let's see if this sends ole granda ma on here way?

Be sure to look this solution over before you begin. There are a some item(s) I'm not familar with. If you recognze any, then just omit them from this fix.

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.hairy-granny.com
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.hairy-granny.com

O16 - DPF: {18387D19-1DAD-20AE-5219-456D3BD0FA00} - http://67.19.178.86/1/rdgUS1742.exe
O16 - DPF: {74AA9FF8-4A2E-275D-556A-731E7B7B81E7} - http://67.19.178.86/1/rdgUS1742.exe

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============
Reboot and post back a new log, and let me know how everything goes.

Go to http://www.silentrunners.org/sr_download.html and download the .zip file of Silent Runners.

Run the program and post the log that it generates in this thread.

You also have a infection that needs a 'process' to remove.

It is described here in a Post by CalamityJane

Please follow that - and then post back here with a new hijackthis log please.

Well, Kaspersky seems to have worked, albiet at the expense of trashing all my Windows user settings and sending me back to the default desktop setup. Had to rebuild my Outlook mail, address and account settings (backed up, fortunately), and re-import my favorites into IE. Had to uninstall KAV after the scan, as it was really slowing down the system and shutting down IE each time I tried to access windowsupdate. Granny's at bay so far, so we'll see. Here's the log:
