Keeping safe. Options?

I was at a party earlier this evening and was talking to a neighbour about the need for security software. I told him about the software that I use (ZA, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Spywareblaster and AVG) and he told me that he uses Symantec which does all that the above do, admittedly costing money, saving a lot of hassel by only using the one program and hence only requiring one download (automatic) from time to time, to keep it all up to date.

Is he correct?

Short answer NO.

It does not have a trojan scanner. - Try a2 or trojan hunter

It does not have a anti-malware program - spybot M$ anti-spy or ad-aware.

It does not monitor the registry for changes - Spybot and winpatrol.

Norton is also very bloated.

Also no suite is the best of breed in all fileds - so you do not have the best of everything.
