Hi Dextroman584

Launch Notepad, and copy the text in the box below into a new text file, save as

File name: Findfile.bat
Save as type: All files

Save it to your desktop

Code: Select all
dir C:\WINDOWS\system32\w?nspool.exe /a h > files.txt

Hi Dextroman584

You're using a P2P filesharing program that is considered by many in the anti-malware community as dangerous. These programs often come with undesirable components bundled in them. Please visit http://p2p.malwareremoval.com/ information on what programs are considered bad along with the related malware they install. Also included are programs considered clean.
If your happy with this program please ignore my instruction for removal of it

Copy and paste text in quote box, save file as regfix, file type all files, and save to desktop where you can find it later when asked.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Fmzmojx"=-
"Spyware Vanisher"=-
"gBt6RfNtQ"=-
"TV Media"=-

Make sure that there isn't a blank line before "REGEDIT4", and that there is a blank line after the last registry line.

Then double-click on the fix.reg file, when it prompts to merge click "Yes". This will clear some registry entries left behind by the process.

Next we need to stop a couple of processes that are running on your computer

To do this...
Startup HJT and select the 4th button entitled
Open the misc tools section

Under where it says system tools click on
Open process manager

Now look for the following processes one by one in the list below, once you find them highlight them then click on the
killl process
button

ViewMgr.exe
BitComet.exe

--------------------------------

Delete bad programs
  • Click Start
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Add/Remove Programs
  • Find and click Remove for the following (if present). It could be that they have a space or something between it , but it has to look like it:

  • BitComet
    Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager
    zango
    VBouncer
    TV Media

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\hvjkt.dll/sp.html#28129

Thanks for the help. I can already tell that my computer is running faster. I followed your instructions from the previous post with no problem until I ran Kaspersky Online Scanner. Everytime I ran the scan, once it got to 86% completed, my IE windows would close, which closed the scan. I tried this 3 different times with the same results. I should also note that McAfee keeps finding a PUP in the folder C:\System Volume Information\_restore{C07ACB03-A53E-47BD-990... This is the same folder that, when scanned, made IE crash. Here's my new HJT log:

Hi Dextroman584
Your log is looking a lot better the kaspersky scan just flagged a few false positives the files it flagged are potentially dangerous but it was not the case in this instance.

right click start ,explore and navigate to your temp folder right click select all and delete.

Make a uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

Image

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.
How are things running at this point in time.
thanks dan

Hi Dextroman584

The following are optional fixes, It's your choice.
Just let me know again what you decide.

I know you decided to keep BitTorrent. but just take five mins to read through this information:
You are using Kazaa. This is not technically malware by itself, but it installs its own adware software when installed in order to run properly. KaZaA is a hotbed for virus and malware activity. There are several out there that have been deemed "safe" and adware-free (although inadvertently downloading adware is still a huge possibility with any file sharing program.). I strongly recommend that you remove it. Read this article for Alternatives that will provide some of the same function without the garbage.

You are running MyWebSearch (or MyBar). Although not technically malware, it is thought to be bad by many experts and it will bring malware with it. There are safer alternatives available such as the Google toolbar. My Web Search also known as the My Way Speedbar is the Internet Explorer toolbar part of the Fun Web Products suite of utilities such as Smiley Central, Cursor Mania, My Mail Stationary, My Mail Signature, PopSwatter, Popular Screensavers, and the My Way website portal. The toolbar allows easy access to search engine results and a 404 Error Redirector called My Total Search among other things to your browser. This is not to be confused with the IBIS Web Search toolbar. MyWay is a search toolbar that installs into Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator, adding search functions and popup blocking. It reports your surfing activity anonymously to MyWay affiliates, helping them to serve targeted advertising to you. As a BHO, MyWay shares the memory that your browser uses, detects events, creates additional windows while you are surfing, and monitors your activity. When a new browser window is opened, MyWay will send a configuration request about 5k in size.

Although none of these products claim to be spyware, they do slow your computer down. All of the products use cookies to track usage, although they claim not to use cookies or anything else to track personally identifiable information. That being said, I would still recommend uninstalling the toolbar and other Fun Web Products if you feel your computer runs better without them. They are found by most spyware removal tools such as Spybot Search and Destroy, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, although they are deemed spyware safe by Aluria Software who created a Spyware SAFE Certification.

The MySearch and MyWay variants have been bundled with Grokster, Morpheus, WeatherBug, and software from mgshareware.com. MySearch has also been installed by the FavoriteMan parasite.
The MyWeb variant is bundled with software (Popswatter, SmileyCentral, My Mail Stamp) from “Fun Web Productsâ€

I didn't realize that I still had Kazaa or MySearch installed on my computer. I certainly dont want them on there. I tried to uninstall them through the control panel but I got an error so I deleted the folders C:/Program Files/Kazaa and C:/Program Files/MySearch.

The only program that was still installed was the Viewpoint but I did delete it as instructed. Everything seems to be running just fine now. Here's my latest HJT log:

Hi Dextroman584

You need to update your java.
You are running an older version of Java.

Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9.

  • Scroll down to where it says " Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications."

  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. It should have the icon next to it.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_09-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Please include new HJT log
in your next post
Thanks dan
