K-Meleon 0.9.13
April 25, 2006

K-Meleon 0.9.13 is released! It is based on the Mozilla 1.7.13 codebase. This release is for security reasons.

Notes:
The reason this version does not include source code is because it has been updated by using new files from the 1.7.13 GRE. This means we do not need to touch the source and that only the rendering engine has received an update. The user interface has been changed by using macros and menus. Macros and Menus both have their code available openly from within K-Meleon, so there is no need to include the source code for this release. The primary reason for this release is to update security.

What's New, Improved and Fixed in This Release:

Added Features
  • NoScript extension improved. Thanks to Alain Aupeix and CaptnBlack.
  • NoScript button toggles NoScript,
  • Right click context menu for NoScript contains now :
o Allow for javascript for this page for session, Block only for this session,
o Add and remove from list of allowed pages.
  • Block Flash, Java or Plugins from NoScript.
  • Note: For NoScript functions, Javascript must always be enabled in the Preferences panel.
  • Active X Support is now enabled, but only for Windows Media Player.
o Active X Support can now be disabled/enabled from the browser menu Tools - Privacy - Permissions.
  • Other ClassIDs can be added in defaults/prefs/activex.js, if this is desired, but increase possibly the security risk.
  • New Umlaut macro added.
  • Bugfix for the so-called giant history bug implemented.
o This bugfix unfortunately disables Google Maps and GMail.
+ To enable these services, disable the bugfix temporarily, by clicking on Tools - Privacy - Permissions - Google Maps/GMail enable/disable.
+ Afterwards disable again, to get the bugfix back for the rest of the Internet.
  • Mime Types Editor
  • Flashblock can be disabled or enabled in Tools - Privacy - Permissions - Flashblock.
Latest Changes
  • Adblock extension added. Thanks to CaptnBlack.
  • Adblock button toggles Adblock function.
  • Preference button opens AdblockPreferences.
  • Filterlist preconfigured.
  • Block additional images by the context menu (insert then into the filter line).
  • To delete or edit a filter, middle click on the concerned filter line, and edit the filter.
  • Pop-up bug fixed by inclusion of 3 files from earlier GREs
Specific bug information is available in the Bug Reporting System
