The Russian sisters Nastya and Masha Tolmachevy won the Junior Eurovision contest 2006 in Bucharest with the song "Vesenniy jazz" (Spring Jazz) on 02/12/2006.
A big CONGRATULATIONS to them. It was a victory well earned.

There's a Junior Eurovision as well?

The senior one's bad enough, why torture us with more?

That's the purpose of Junior Eurovision.
Preparing Stars for the Senior one exactly for the reason you said. ;)

Unfortunately they appear to inhabit the higher echelons of the various broadcasting companies.

Well Eurovision contest is dedicated to music.
Some songs can hardly go into music category, but since residents of Countries decide which song would represent them, we can realise from that how voting works.
Not all persons have a good taste about music, so not all of them could be proper judges to sent a song to Eurovision Contest.
That's the 1st reason i believe which brings bad songs to Eurovision.
I can see it from my country.
Firstly they have let's say 50 songs for the contest.
A comittee, hears all the 50 songs, and gives let's say 8 to our vote.
We don't even hear the other 42. That's also not correct.
Who says even if the commitee are experts they choose the correct songs. Every persons personal taste for music is a different one.
It's a whole big circle and most of the times ends to the wrong song. ;)

We play "Guess who's voting for who" in our house (the wife unfortunately likes Eurovision), not too hard, as the voting is absolutely predictable, with "allied" nations always voting for each other.

Terry Wogan's comments on this always add a highlight to the programme (hearing them is the only thing that makes watching bearable), but I guess people outside the UK don't get the pleasure of his sardonic Irish wit. Your loss.

Not wishing to take anything away from the winner, but the voting on the Senior Eurovision is so political it's silly... why they bother with this farce year after year amazes me.

I hope the Junior one is more about the talent and the songs than it is about which country is upset with which country.

I like the X Faxtor 8) :oops:

First of all i'm from Portugal and my country got the 14th place out of 15. At any rate this post is a congratulation post to the sisters that won the contest, just because they have deserve the place they won.

@Gary R

You don't have to view it !

@katana

At least they are not as often as "Reality TV" shows like "I'm a nobody put me in a jungle" !!

You're right !

I bet you haven't view the show this year.

lol, i am not fond of Eurovision Contests either, but there are people who likes it.

Long post made short, i'm not fond of those shows also, but like everything in live, there are good music and bad music, either inside the eurovision shows like outside. I was just "trying" to give some credit to the winners.

I wouldn't dare to speak about the voting. If it's political / predictable or not i don't care. You might be right, you might be wrong. Again, the aim of this post was not conduct a discussion about politics or the truth about the voting or anything else beside congratulating the winners.

Best regards,
