I read here that if I disable my Wireless Zero Configuration it will increase my online gaming.

If I disable it, what does it actually do?

It will stop your system dropping the wireless connection whilst it searches for a new one.

You need this service to get connected in the first place so remember to turn it back on after you have finished your game

Thanks for the link Nellie, a friend is having a similar problem and we have been trying to figure out why (the mysteries of wireless are often beyond me), I'll give the advice a go
