VMWare Server -- Standby Bug?

Unread postby Nexus7 » March 4th, 2006, 2:28 pm

Has anyone had any problem using VMWare Server Beta and a laptop's "close-screen standby" function? I've had three separate times when I've shut the screen with only background programs running, and the VM Server desktop app not actively running (just the usual background VM services/processes), opened the screen later, and get XP's BSOD about Windows being halted to avoid damage, memory dump, etc, thanks to "vmnet.exe". Cold boot, no problems.

(NOTE: I realize that "vmnat.exe" is the usual process, but for the life of me I swear it mentioned "vmnet.exe," which could very-well be my imagination, as vmnet.exe isn't on my computer, in HJT log, etc. Is there any system log which would have this info on BSOD's and the like, to be sure?)

Any help would be appreciated.

Moved to the approprate place.

I have a desktop, so can't help you there :(

There will be logs here for you to look at:
right click my computer->manage->event viewer->system logs

Or perhaps the application logs

I'm using the desktop version on XP and the Server version on Linux. Up to now, I didn't encounter such prob. Keeping in mind that der free server version is still in beta state, you should probably collect all the logs you have and ask VMWare to check them.
