Spy Falcon

Unread postby EZgoinguyNC » May 22nd, 2006, 12:21 pm

I have done the suggestions at this link: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=294
which are common to every place I have seen anything about spy falcon or dcomcfg.exe removals.
It fixed all but one thing...in the tray I still have the handicap icon saying there is spyware. How do I get rid of that?
here is my hijackthis log:

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Desktop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

already done

Unread postby EZgoinguyNC » May 23rd, 2006, 7:32 am

I had run the fix action already as I stated in my original post. I got lucky and looked in the system32 folder and sorted everything by date. It had not wiped out all the offending dll files. I deleted the last one rebooted and the icon is gone. Thanks for your help, Dave

Dave, glad to hear that that annoying icon is gone :thumbleft: However, I'd like to see that requested logfile from SmitfraudFix to make sure that also all bad dll related registry entries are gone :)

That's Smitfraudfix log from option 2. I'd like to see Smitfraudfix log from option 1, because if Smitfraudfix didn't recognize that bad dll, it probably didn't remove bad registry entries either :)
