Hi Perkypen, Welcome to MalWare Removal !!

I don't see any problem with this log !!

We can run a couple of things to see if anything is hiding !!

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure

Please disable SpySweeper, as it may hinder the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.

To disable SpySweeper:
Open it
Click Options over to the left
Click Program Options,
Uncheck "load at windows startup"
Click Shields on the left.
Click Internet Explorer and uncheck all items.
Click Windows System and uncheck all items.
Click Startup Programs and uncheck all items
Uncheck Home Page Shield
Uncheck automatically restore default without notification"
Exit Spysweeper

Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.
Open Spybot Search & Destroy
In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
Expand the "Tools" menu.
Click "Resident".
Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy

Unread postby Perkypen » January 28th, 2006, 10:12 pm

Here is a new log and the scan report. I ran Housecalls and it found three items to remove but I did not see how to access it once they were removed--sorry.

Let me know if you see anything.

Thanks,
Penny

Please create a folder on your C:\ and give it a name (example:HJT), move HijackThis.exe to that folder. Run the program from that directory from now on. HijackThis creates backups, these are needed in case of any recovery issues.

Housecall :
After everything has been removed, please click the Show button on everything.
Highlight all the of text and press CTRL + C to copy the text.
Open Notepad, hit Ctrl + V to Paste
Save it to the desktop

I still don.t see anything in your log !!

If you can get me the contents of theHousecall that would help

Do you use Netscape or Internet Explorer as your browser ??

Can you tell me what exactly or close is happening when you ty to download ??

Okay, I put the HJT in the programs file because when I tried to just put it in the C: it kept telling me it was running from a temp location, which it was not.

I ran Housecalls again and it gave me a message that there where some errors, but when I clicked okay to show them it showed nothing.

It seems to be running a little better now and faster. I use Netscape generally I only us IE when I have to.

We can see how it runs or I can try a different scan on it. Let me know.

Thanks,
Penny

Your log is CLEAN !!

When you ran Housecall were you using IE ??
You must use IE or it wont work !!

Are you able to download now ??

Here are a few tools that I recommend for protecting your system and keeping your system clean !!

Real Time Prevention
SpywareBlaster© by Javacool Software
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page
IESpyad© by EHowes : This will add several hundred Restricted Sites to the Restricted Site Zone in IE.

File Cleaners (temp, prefetch, cookie, etc)
2000/XP Only
ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune
All Windows
CCleaner© by CCleaner.com

Spyware Scanners:
Ad-aware SE© by Lavasoft Scans your system for spyware and other threats
a² Scanner© by Emsi Software : Scans for Malware and Trojans on your system.

Good Free Antivirus Programs:
AVG© by Grisoft
Avast© by ALWIL Software
NOTE:Remember always have just 1 antivirus program running at a time. Having more than one running causes a conflict between the programs !! You can use one as a backup to run manually

Windows Update:
It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks
Windows Update

Firewalls:
If you have an "always on " internet connection, such as DSL or Cable, I recommend a Firewall.
A firewall will make your pc invisible to the outside world and will filter the outgoing and incoming traffic on your pc.
For a good idea of how vulnerable your system(s) are go to GRC
Scroll down to "Shields Up" Click on "Proceed" Then click on "Common Ports"to scan your ports.
Very good Firewalls :
ZoneAlarm Firewall© by Zone Labs
Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall© by Sunbelt

These next steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection
Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness
Alternative Browsers:
FireFox© by Mozilla
Opera© by Opera Software ASA

Java Runtime Environment© Sun Microsystems. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

Always keep your Antivirus & Spyware Removal Tools current with the latest definitions and updates !!

Using these tools and keeping them updated will reduce the risk of future infections!!

Do you have any questions??
