Malware Blocking Access to Applications/Internet? dnsapi.dll

Unread postby colinberan » August 22nd, 2016, 3:39 am

I've come into quite a bit of malware as of today and I've been working for a while to try to get everything back in working order, and while I seem to have stopped the hemmorhaging my computer is going through, I still am having some issues.
Mainly, I have several programs, including Malwarebytes that will not start unless the computer is in safe mode. I get an error saying "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000906). Click OK to close the application." I also have issues with a "bcuengine.dll" located in C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs\16082100\bcuengine.dll that has been preventing me from performing virus scans as well.
Very appreciative of any help I could get as I'm really trying to avoid formatting my hard drive.
Thanks.

Update: I managed to restore internet connection and everything SEEMS to be normal after running a system repair scan thing in the command prompt with "sfc /scannow" to repair the dnsapi.dll problem. However if it's not too much effort I would like to see if anyone can find anything that Malwarebytes and Avast can't find. Just to make sure my problem is actually solved.

Thanks.

Second update, sorry if these are obnoxious: Definitely still having some troubles. Mainly that it still seems to be trying to hijack Google Chrome. I can't get a shortcut to work for more than a couple uses before it says "class not registered" when I try to use it and I cannot pin Chrome to the start menu.
