Radiate--Seekmo Search Assistant

Unread postby docdestructo62 » January 4th, 2006, 11:14 am

Each time I run SpybotSD it finds and fixes something called Radiate. I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser but this adware uses Internet Explorer and pops up ads that originate with a company called Seekmo Search Assistant. Thanks in advance for any help. Here is my Hijackthis log:

Hi there, and welcome to the forums!

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

C:\Program Files\MediaGateway\MediaGateway.exe
C:\program files\seekmo\seekmo.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O2 - BHO: IEHlprObj Class - {CD4C3CF0-4B15-11D1-ABED-709549C10000} - C:\PROGRA~1\Go!Zilla\GoIEHlp.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MediaGateway] C:\Program Files\MediaGateway\MediaGateway.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [seekmo] "c:\program files\seekmo\seekmo.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [qfkxsp] C:\WINDOWS\qfkxsp.exe
O8 - Extra context menu item: Download with Go!Zilla - file://C:\PROGRA~1\Go!Zilla\download-with-gozilla.html
O16 - DPF: {8FCDF9D9-A28B-480F-8C3D-581F119A8AB8} (MediaGatewayX) - http://static.zangocash.com/cab/180solu ... ge-c24.cab

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\MediaGateway\MediaGateway.exe
C:\program files\seekmo\seekmo.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\Go!Zilla\GoIEHlp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\qfkxsp.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\Go!Zilla\download-with-gozilla.html

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

Thanks for the offer of help. I was unable to wait and received help from another forum. They told me to the same things you suggest and it worked beautifully. Best regards!
