How to detect malware?

Unread postby timeandout » November 11th, 2013, 4:14 am

I have a macbook. I stupidly fell for a phishing email (that looked like it was from Wells Fargo). I downloaded and opened the attachment. I don't presently have virus protection, but that will change tomorrow. Should I be worried that I downloaded a virus or something equivalent. My computer hasn't slowed down, nor do I have pop ups. There aren't any symptoms of my computer being infected. Is there other action I should take besides installing a virus protection program? I really don't want problems from my stupid action.

This forum does not work with Mac computers, only with Microsoft Windows based systems.

The following forums have support for Macs, however I couldn't say whether that includes Malware removal support ...

http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/forum/17 ... d=noscript
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/172/mac-os/
http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f65/

.... The level of help at all the above forums is generally very good.

We are sorry we can not offer you assistance with this matter.
