Win7 freezes repeatedly, must do System Restore each time

Unread postby willia5 » January 28th, 2013, 10:26 pm

My Windoes 7 locks/freezes. I have to pull the power plug and re-start. It goes into System Restore each time. After Sys Restore, I boot in Safe Mode and then remove Google Chrome as that seems as if it may be the problem. That seems to temporarily fix the issue, but eventually it does lock again. I repeat the process, and then it eventually locks again. Your help is much appreciated!

Here is my DDS file and attached is my Attach.txt file:

Sorry for the delay.
Since it is a System protective program, TeaTimer might interfere with the orderly removal of certain system infections.
Temporarily Disable Spybot's TeaTimer Protection
Start Spybot Search & Destroy
In the top menu, click Mode
Check Advanced Mode if it is not already checked. OK the selection if necessary.
In the bottom of the left pane, click on Tools
From the new left pane list, click on Resident
Uncheck the box in the middle labeled Resident "TeaTimer"(Protection of overall system settings) active.
From the top menu, click on File, Exit.
Download the Microsoft Security Essentials Installer
The download is here: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
Save it to your desktop, and make sure you can find it, but don't run it yet.
Remove Programs Using Control Panel
From Start, Control Panel, click on Programs and Features
Click each Entry, as follows, one by one, if it exists, choose Uninstall, and give permission to Continue:

AVG Security Toolbar
Norton Internet Security
McAfee Security Scan Plus

Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller.
Install Microsoft Security Essentials
Double Click the icon for the Microsoft Security Essentials installer.
Let it install, update itself, run a scan and delete anything it finds.
If the machine also downloads a lot of Windows updates, allow it to do so. (May take a few hours)
All the processes may be slow during the downloads.
After the machine quiets down:
Download the OTL Scanner
Please download OTL.exe by OldTimer and save it to your desktop.
Run a Scan with OTL
  • Right click the OTL icon and choose "Run as administrator" to run it.
  • Check the box at the top, labeled Include 64 bit scans
  • Check the boxes labeled :
    • Scan All Users
    • LOP check
    • Purity check
    • Extra Registry > Use SafeList
  • Make sure all other windows are closed to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Click on the Run Scan button at the top left hand corner. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL. (desktop)
OTL.txt will be open on your desktop, and Extras.txt will be minimized in your taskbar.
The Extras.txt file will only appear the very first time you run OTL.
Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them as a reply. Use separate replies if more convenient.
