This is greatly irritating, and I suspect winupd.exe. I have heard rumors about it, and don't know what it is, but have seen "Temp:winupd.exe" in my Processes in Windows Task Manager, and was very confused when I first saw it.
I could not run DDS, as it requires an administrator login, and my administrator is unavailable for the next week and a half. I used HiJackThis instead, and I hope it helps.
