Unread postby Danstang » August 4th, 2011, 4:50 pm

Thanks in advance for any assiatance. Recently, when on IE is open (and now even when it is not), the computer begins to flash (in no specific order) the start menu, the calculator, the clock, Microsoft Draw and others. The mouse is completely uncontrollable during this process. I have tried everything including contacting Trend Micro by phone. Trend tiamtium online finds only a few cookies. Spyhunter finds other malware and deletes. Problem still exists. Today it went absolutely nuts, brought up a ton of programs on my system even after I killed the internet collection.

Please, ohplease, HELP!

Unread postby Alander » August 9th, 2011, 3:06 am

Hello, I Am Alander :)

Welcome to the Malware Removal forums.

I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems.

DDS logs can take a while to research so please be patient while I work on your log and I will post back here with any recommendations.

As I am still training, everything that I post to you, must be checked by an Admin or Moderator.

Thus, there may be a tiny bit of a delay between posts. While it shouldn't be too long, you can be assured you will get the best possible advice.

  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Hi Alander,
Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Also, may I suggest I run DDS again and post a new log since it had been several days since the originalpost and a MS update ran in the meantime? - Up to you - just let me know and thanks in advance.

Nope you dont have to, follow the instructions as of below..

Please download GMER Rootkit Scanner from Here.
  • Double click the .exe file. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All << (don't miss this one)
See image below, Click the image to enlarge it
    Image

  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your next reply
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Note: Do not run any programs while Gmer is running.

HI - When I was running the GMER scan, after severalhours of scanning, I walked away from the PC for severalminutes. When I got back, the screen was black and I was unable to "wake"it - nothing happened.I did a hard restart and gota message that windows had recovered from a serious error etc. Then the following webpage came up automatically:

http://wer.microsoft.com/responses/Resp ... b44c39c5de

I was not actively running anything at the time. The only thing running was Trend Micro - which I just noticed updated itself at 11:26am, which appears to be right around the time the issue occorred.

ShallI try the GMER scan againwith Trend turned off?

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
