view.atdmt.com Redirect Back Again

Unread postby theglobal » June 29th, 2011, 1:08 am

Hi :)

After working with Dakeyras for a lengthy period of time, it appeared that we had cleaned up the view.atdmt.com redirect problem. The computer is re-infected or it was residing somewhere in the computer to reappear...which seems unlikely. In any event, I would be grateful for additional help.

Hi theglobal,

Welcome to the forum.

Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Please note the following:
  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please do not run any scans or make any changes to the system unless I ask you too.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • If after 3 days you have not responded to this topic, it will be closed, and you will need to start a new one.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Please Note:
The programs I ask you to run need to be run in Administrator Mode by... Right clicking the program file and selecting: Run as Administrator.
Additionally, the built-in User Account Control (UAC) utility, if enabled, may prompt you for permission to run the program.
When prompted, please select: Allow. Reference: User Account Control (UAC) and Running as Administrator

Download and run OTL
Download OTL by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right click on OTL.exe and select: Run as Administrator.
  • Under Output, ensure that Minimal Output is selected.
  • Under Extra Registry section, select Use SafeList.
  • Click the Scan All Users checkbox.
  • Click on Run Scan at the top left hand corner.
  • When done, two Notepad files will open.
    • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extras.txt <-- Will be minimized
  • Please post the contents of these 2 Notepad files in your next reply.

Please download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here.
  • Right click the .exe file and select: Run as Administrator.. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent
  • If it gives you a warning at program start about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run a scan...click NO.
  • Run Gmer again and click on the Rootkit tab.
  • Look at the right hand side (under Files) and uncheck all drives with the exception of your C drive.
  • Make sure all other boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for "Show All".
  • Click on the "Scan" and wait for the scan to finish.
Note: Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while this scan completes. Also do not use your computer during the scan.
  • When completed, click on the Copy button and right-click on your Desktop, choose "New" > Text document. Once the file is created, open it and right-click again and choose Paste or Ctrl+V. Save the file as gmer.txt and copy the information in your next reply.
  • Note: If you have any problems, try running GMER in SAFE MODE
Important! Please do not select the "Show all" checkbox during the scan..

Please post the GMER log along with OTL.txt and Extras.txt from the OTL scan into your next reply.

Of note is that the redirect "appears" to be still pointing to http://view.atdmt.com/action/windows_downloads_Upgrade_CTA?href=http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b544e90-7659-4bd9-9e51-2497c146af15&displaylang=en (I copied this off the Microsoft website. It is a Windows 7 upgrade advisor link. In the beginning, I would receive the following message: "view.atdmt.com" is not set up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web service (HTTP)" with this computer. However, now when I click on the link I do not get the same message, but rather I am properly directed to http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... g=en&id=20. So, even though the view.atdmt.com is still showing in the link, it does not return the error message, and I am directed to the correct Microsoft page, thus begging the question of whether the issue is fixed or not.

Thanks,

Hi theglobal,

Please give more details, how often does the redirect happen? Does it happen from within a search or from particular web pages?

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.

Download links for 32 bit Windows:
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2

  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield:
    Code: Select all
    :filefind
    *atlassolutions*
    *atdmt*

    :folderfind
    *atlassolutions*
    *atdmt*

    :Regfind
    atlassolutions
    atdmt

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
Because of the Registry searches, the scan may take 15 minutes or a bit more to run on a large machine. Please be patient.
(Takes about 4 minutes on my XP net book)
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Re: view.atdmt.com Redirect Back Again

Unread postby theglobal » July 6th, 2011, 10:32 pm

Hi deltalima,

I recall seeing view.atdmt.com on at least two web links, one of them being Microsoft (I cannot remember the other). Prior to getting the error message "view.atdmt.com" is not set up to establish a connection on port "World Wide Web service (HTTP)" with the "view.atdmt.com" embedded in the link, I was able to click on the same link without the "veiw.atdmt.com" embedded in the link. Of course, it was the error message that made me look up the error message on Google. In several places it noted that it was malware. Upon further looking, I see that Microsoft uses the atdmt service. So, frankly, I am not really sure how it operates, but did observe that it was harmless to a severe maleware that must be removed. That is why I have always gone to Malware Removal for help. As I noted before, now I can click on the Microsoft link, even though it has the atdmt in it, and I do not get the error message, but go to the desired webpage at Microsoft. I defer to your and your assoicates advice with respect to this matter.

Re: view.atdmt.com Redirect Back Again

Unread postby deltalima » July 7th, 2011, 4:00 am

Hi theglobal,

Please use the instructions here to remove OpenDNS and return the computer to use automatic settings.

As I noted before, now I can click on the Microsoft link, even though it has the atdmt in it, and I do not get the error message, but go to the desired webpage at Microsoft.

The logs look to be clean, let's do a final scan.

ESET Online Scanner:

Note: You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan. You will however need to disable your current installed Anti-Virus, how to do so can be read here.

Vista/Windows 7 users: You will need to to right-click on the either the IE or FF icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run as Administrator from the context menu.

  • Please go here to run the scan.
Note: If using Mozilla Firefox you will need to download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe when prompted then double click on it to install.
All of the below instructions are compatible with either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.
  • Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: Image
  • When prompted allow the Add-On/Active X to install.
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is NOT checked, and the option Scan archives is checked.
  • Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:
    • Scan for potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
  • Now click on: Image
  • The virus signature database... will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
  • When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically.
  • Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
  • When completed select Uninstall application on close if you so wish, make sure you copy the logfile first!
  • Now click on: Image
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.

Note: Do not forget to re-enable your Anti-Virus application after running the above scan!

Hi deltalima,

I ran the scan until it appeared to hang up. Because it looks like it will take several hours, I will re-run again on Saturday so I can better monitor the scan.
Thanks,
