Unable to open Windows Firewall or Trend Micro Main Console

Unread postby simma75 » June 16th, 2011, 9:01 pm

I would be most appreciative if someone would help this computer ignorant person with the above problem. I am using Windows 7, IE, Trend Micro Titanium Security and one day, out of the blue, I was unable to open either Windows Firewall (even manually) or Trend Micro Main Console. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Trend Micro a couple of times, run various antispyware programs, run System Mechanic Premium to no avail. My HiJack this log is as follows:

Sorry if this is too much/not enough info, as I am a computer tard. I should also mention that when I attempt to run HiJack This, I get a warning that "for some reason your system denied write access to the Hosts file...etc" Not sure what that means or if this is related to my above problem.

thanks,
