A couple of weeks ago I got the Microsoft Restore virus on my pc. I was able to remove it for the most part except now I still get these script popup messages talking about a weird URL. Also periodically a random audio ad will just start playing out of now where which is really annoying. The final thing it's doing is redirecting me when I click on any links in search engine results. I've noticed it does this in both IE 8 and Chrome.

I've tried multiple things to get rid of it and nothing is working. I have Symantic virus protection, Malware malbytes, Microsoft Security Essentials and Hitman Pro. There are no applications showing in the task manager when the popup occurs or the ads startings playing. I've done some research on similiar viruses and tried adjusting my network properties to automatically obtain DNS server addresses, that didn't work. I also checked the host file in windows drivers folder and there wasn't anything extra listed.

I'm running Windows XP SP3. I've never had this many problems with a virus and have always been able to remove them on my own. I'm at my wits end with this one.

Thank you for your help.
Jeff

May I draw your attention to the topic: ALL USERS OF THIS FORUM MUST READ THIS FIRST, which you should have read before posting for help.
