Help me remove this maleware?

Unread postby manmountain8 » April 5th, 2011, 4:30 pm

I am running XP. I recently got a fake Windows restore virus. Malewarebytes found this:

Trojan.FakeAlert
Rogue.FakeHDD
PUM.Hiijack.DisplayProperties
PUM.Hiijack.TaskManager

It quarantined and deleted them. Additional scans can not find anything else. That got rid of most of the problems.

However, this is what is still happening:

-Something is trying to run Internet Explorer scripts and errors keep popping up, even when I am not online or connected to the Internet. It is trying to force a connection to websites with commercials and ads. Audio from commercials will run every so often, but nothing else.

-Google searches are redirected, as well as links from websites I can access.

-The search for files and folders option is not working right. When I click on search nothing happens. I can still search though if I set up the search criteria, and then click "look in C:" and hit enter in that box rather than clicking search.

I can't find anything else out of the ordinary. Thanks for any help you can offer...
