Adobe Update Malware Infection - Please Help

Unread postby skip77 » March 21st, 2011, 7:01 pm

New member - think I have the Adobe Update virus - the auto update icon has kept popping up in my tool tray the past few weeks. I ignored it, scanned my system with AVAST paid version and Malwarebytes Antimalware - both run full scans every night in wee hours and both show 0 infections. I downloaded McAfee Stinger and ran it today - it appears to have not found anything. The Adobe icon keeps popping up and my pc has been acting odd every since. I am getting tons of junkmail and also finding my email accounts seem to be sporadically malfunctioning - have 4 or 5 email accts thru Outlook Express. Running Win XP Media Edition SP3 on Dell Dimension E310 upgraded to 2GB RAM and external hard drive - this was months ago and no issues then.

I got roped into paying for tech service thru India several months ago and they took over my pc and removed several of my paid anti-virus programs - saying they clashed with AVAST paid version. Anyway, I removed their service dock from my system because I did not want to pay another $126 for the next reup with them. I am concerned that my system is compromised and hope you can help.
