Removing System Tools malware

Unread postby insomniac_ut » February 27th, 2011, 5:55 am

Hello,

I'm a fairly careful user - I run Avast, ZoneAlarm and occassionally MalwareBytes. I was surprised to find that my system had recently been a target of System Tools (I run Windows XP SP3). I restarted Windows in Safe Mode, removed the trojans with MalwareBytes and the malware seems to be gone.

However, I'd like to confirm that this is indeed the case, so I'm attaching a HijackThis log for my machine. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I am unable to provide the Kaspersky scan log because the online scanner is now offline:

The current Kaspersky Online Scanner is unavailable - we apologize for the inconvenience. While you are waiting for the improved Online Scanner, why not take a free trial of Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, which has everything you need to keep your computer safe.

I have done an Avast scan of my machine and it's clear of virus infections.

I am very dissatisfied with the level of response time for what should be a simple problem.

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
