My mouse is going crazy!

Unread postby pastdav » February 13th, 2011, 7:45 pm

Hi there, am running Kaspersky and Spybot. Ran Spybot about a week ago after the mouse was moving erratically, and Spybot picked up Virtumonde. Ran Spybot under all 4 family users. Mouse is still moving to different location other than where directed, but strangely not as much as before. Ran Kaspersky full scan last night and noticed two Spybot quarantined files for Virtumonde and Zango.

Here's my logs-

Hello & Welcome to Malware Removal

Please Subscribe to this Thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this ensure Notify me when a reply is posted is ticked on the POST A REPLY page.

In the meantime please note the following:
  • Please take time to read the Malware Removal Forum Guidelines and Rules where the conditions for receiving help at this forum are explained.
  • Any recommendations made are for your computer problems only and should NOT be used on any other computer.
  • Please DO NOT run any scans/tools or other fixes unless I ask you to. This is very important for several reasons. Here are just two of them:
    1. The tools that we use are very powerful and can cause >>irreparable damage<< to your computer if not used correctly.
    2. Commercial scanners, for the most part can not completely remove some of the more "resistant" infections. This makes it much more difficult to get rid of completely.
  • If you get stuck or are unsure of something please ask for a further explanation, do not guess.
  • It will require more than one round to properly clean your system. Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean! even if symptoms seemingly abate.
Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within three days this thread will be closed.
If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. We get a lot of people who simply leave & if there is no contact for that amount of time I will have to assume you have abandoned your topic.

Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

Thanks

DDS
Download DDS.scr by sUBs from one of the following links & save it to your desktop.
Link 1
Link 2
  • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal
  • Shortly after two logs will appear, DDS.txt & Attach.txt
  • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs
  • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop
  • Copy the contents of both logs & post in your next reply. Please DO NOT attach the logs
Gmer
Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here & save it to your desktop.
  • Right click the .exe file then choose Run as Administrator to run the tool. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO

    Image
Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Do not run any programs while Gmer is running.

NOTE: If you cannot run GMER as indicated above, save a scan from the initial startup scan.
  • Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed & no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while the scan is being performed. Do not use your computer for anything else during the scan
  • Double click the gmer.exe file
  • The program will begin to run & perform an initial scan. If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No
  • After the "initial scan" is complete, click on the Save button, save the log file to your desktop & post it in your reply

Re: My mouse is going crazy!

Well! Whatever we have, it did not like that. I'm posting this from my ancient laptop (XP with 20g wowsie it's quick!!).

Was able to run DDS and save logs to desktop.

Downloaded GMER Rootkit Scanner. After scanning for about two hours, it rebooted by itself back to logon screen. I logged on and tried again by double clicking exe file. Started to scan -got the initial scan details up and then system rebooted again to logon screen. Logged on again and double clicked GMER exe and system closed down and eventually got the black screen up-

PXE-E53:No boot filename received

PXE-M0F:Exiting Intel Boot Agent
etc etc etc Am staring at black screen with more details if required.

Any suggestions?

Will check back later, as I am reluctant to open email on my laptop. Has taken all afternoon to install trial version Kaspersky and try to update microsoft. Haven't used laptop for 18 months and it is very s l o w t o r u n .

Sounds like your system is trying to boot to your network as the first choice. It's possible you may have to go into the BIOS & check the settings.

What happens if you try to power off the computer & restart?

etc etc etc Am staring at black screen with more details if required.
Yes, more details please. Could you also post the contents of the two DDS logs if possible.

I can't post logs of DDS as I can't access my pc anymore.

The black screen of my pc reads

Intel (R) Boot Agent GE v1.2.42
Copyright (C) 1997-2006, Intel Corporation

Client MAC DDR: 00 1F E2 04 68 7F GUID: 001FE204 687F 2008 0722 030632000000

PXE-E53: No boot filename received
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

Yesterday, while still connected to internet, if I turned off pc and turned back on, the above message came on.

Today, the pc is no longer connected to internet (my laptop is connected instead). When I now turn pc off and turn back on the black screen reads

Intel (R) Boot Agent GE v1.2.42
Copyright (C) 1997-2006, Intel Corporation
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.

Reboot and Select proper Boot device
or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key

Thanks for any assistance!

After researching those error messages, the first thing we need to try is to check the BIOS setting for the boot sequence to make sure the first choice is not the network card. I have never known any of the tools/programs we use to affect the BIOS... but we need to check. Do you know how to access the BIOS on the computer? If not let me know the make & model & we'll take it from there.

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
