dthtml.exe Removal, and HiJackThis log.

Unread postby Foxman84 » February 9th, 2011, 1:38 am

First off, I have disabled anything involving Portraits Displays Inc. And it has also taken our my copy of AVG, I can barely even use my internet connection. My default browser is Mozilla FireFox, and I am not very computer savvy. So I need things explained in simple easy terms. Me and my wife both use my computer, mainly for keeping in contact with family. So we need this fixed, as soon as possible. Any and all help would be appreciated.

When the computer starts up, we get an error message that looks like this: dthtml.exe - Entry Point Not Found

'The procedure entry point _iob_func could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCR70.dll'

I looked up online, and tried to follow certain steps to get rid of this. But I can't seem to get rid of the error. So I am hoping that a community full of tech savvy people, could provide help. I also have the HiJackThis logfile. Oh, and we are running Windows XP Professional, with Service Pack 2. Our computer is used for gaming as well, so we haven't installed Service Pack 3, due to the issues it caused us in the past.

Hello and welcome to Malware Removal Forums

IMPORTANT

Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
To make cleaning this machine easier:-
  • Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean!
  • Please DO NOT uninstall/install any programs unless asked to. It is more difficult when files/programs appear or disappear from the logs.
  • Please do not run any scans other than those requested and do not post any logs/reports unless specifically requested to do so.
  • Please follow all instructions in the order posted.
  • If you have any questions or do not understand instructions, please ask before continuing.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:
  • Start HijackThis
  • Click on the Misc Tools button
  • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
  • Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Save the file to your desktop.

Please post this log on your next reply.

NEXT Download and Run: RSIT

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Please reply with:-
  • Uninstall list
  • RSIT logs ( info.txt and log.txt)

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Malware Removal forum, include a fresh HijackThis log, and wait for a new helper.

If you have been helped and wish to donate to help with the costs of this volunteer site,
