Start Menu and Task Bar problems

Unread postby Pointzero » February 1st, 2011, 4:19 am

Problem: After Windows XP starts up, while logging onto the administrator account, no desk-top icons, task bar or start menu are visible for 30 seconds. Explorer.exe eventually runs (without manually commanding it) and desktop icons become visible but the task bar and start menu remain hidden. (I have unlocked and locked task bar and tried many of the simpler solutions.)

Also, System Restore and many other programs either error or blue screen into a computer crash.

Re: Start Menu and Task Bar problems

Unread postby NonSuch » February 1st, 2011, 8:54 pm

We are very sorry, but there are indications that something is amiss regarding the validity of the Windows operating system on this computer. However, please be aware that even if the operating system were valid, this computer is without Service Pack 3 for Windows XP and has, therefore, been ineligible for Windows Updates since July 2010. In addition, it appears this system actually has not been updated since the release of SP2, and a method has been used to circumvent the Windows Validation process. This has caused the system to be extremely vulnerable to malware infections every time it has been connected to the internet.

Note that Service Pack 3 cannot be installed on an infected computer.

As we are unable to assist you at this time, due to software on this system that is not in compliance with MRU guidelines, this topic is now closed.
