Hi Ashdc,
-----------------------------------------------
Please Note Our Policy on the Use of P2P (Person to Person / Peer to Peer) file sharing programs
It is posted here: http://malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=491394#p491394
As a condition of receiving our help, I have included the P2P program BitTorrent in the removal instructions below, so we are not wasting our time.
If you have used this, you can be fairly confident this is a principal reason your computer is infected

It's really important, if you value your PC at all, to stay away from P2P file sharing programs, like utorrent, Bittorrent, Azureus, Frostwire, Limewire, Vuze, Shareaza, Bitlord.
(Limewire has just been shut down by the courts).
Criminals have "planted" thousands upon thousands of infections in the "free" shared files. Some of the recent infections can turn your machine into a doorstop.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove Programs Using Control Panel
From Start, Settings, Control Panel or Start, Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight any of these Entries, as follows, one by one, if they exist, and choose Remove :

BitTorrent
BitTorrentBar
BitTorrent Toolbar
Spybot Search & Destroy

Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller.
If the Spybot Uninstaller asks whether you want to remove all files and settings, answer YES. If it reports that it cannot remove all files, that's OK.
After we are finished cleaning your machine, you can re-install Spybot if you wish.
-----------------------------------------------------------
REBOOT (RESTART) Your Machine
-----------------------------------------------------------
Retrieve the List of Installed programs Using HJT
Open HijackThis, click Open The Misc Tools Section. Then scroll down the list if you need to, click Open Uninstall Manager and Save List...
The List of installed programs will automatically be saved as uninstall_list.txt in your HiJackThis folder.
In addition, the list opens in Notepad so you can also save as another name in another location if you wish.
Please paste the contents into your next reply.

Please tell me what undesirable behavior you are seeing from your computer.

hey askey, look i just had a stupid call from some asians who told me my computer was infected, i normally dont take what they say seriously, but fior some reason i did. i sent you this hjt log and i also then emailed an admin to politel;y request that you take me off your list, you know? that help was no longer necessary. ( i think ) you may know better.

im curious though as to why to remove spybot as this was recommended. do you know information that would render that suggestion useless?

anyway i use p2p to download music that people uplooad of their record collections from 20 years ago, mainly stuff you cant get hold of again im just an old raver and it wasnt commerciAL music.

Ashdc,
I don't know yet whether it's infected or not.

Spybot is indeed OK, but if Teatimer is enabled it can prevent the removal of infected files.
It's easier to remove Spybot than explain and implement the multi-step process to disable the Teatimer portion in the various versions. Once the machine is clean, having it on there is fine.

If you use P2P programs, your computer will always be infected.
Better make sure you are able to easily Reformat the drive and re-install windows.

If someone volunteered to you about your machine being infected, that usually means they want you to pay so they can provide you with a more serious infection. And of course if you ever use the machine to buy anything online, you can assume your finance info will be stolen.

Good luck, but remember you make your own luck to a large extent.
I will see to it that your post is archived.

hello again askey, thank you for a very concise answer my friend, im 'aware' :? i reckon, of what im doing. as i say youd probably disagree but i suspect you may be far better educated. as far as reformatting goes im a fair cop at that ive just helped my mum get rid of the dreaded vista on three machines and set her up with winxp. shes alot happier she archives on a separate drive. Then ive helped some friends avoid a £65 charge at a shop, for drivers. im adequate. thanks again for your help see ya!! :king:
