DMA Scheduler Error

Unread postby noman » December 17th, 2010, 4:13 am

Me again.

MRU Master was helping me over here (http://www.malwareremoval.com/forum/vie ... 12&t=54748) with an error message about the DMAScheduler. Conclusion was that it was hardware and I needed to replace RAM. I dialed up new RAM on Crucial.com and replaced both RAM cards. I am still getting the DMA Scheduler error on reboot and a new message, "ATI External Event Utility EXE Module has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." MRU Teacher closed the thread last time due to likely hardware issue, but the hardware issue is resolved. What is this? Here is the Hijack This log again. Anyone have a clue?

Re: DMA Scheduler Error

Unread postby vict0r » December 19th, 2010, 8:22 pm

Hello.

My nickname is vict0r and I will help you with the possible malware issues on your computer.

Please read the following information carefully.

IMPORTANT: Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.

To make cleaning this machine easier:

  • Please continue to respond to this thread until I I tell you that the logs are clean!
  • Please DO NOT uninstall/install any programs unless asked to. It is more difficult when files/programs appear or disappear from the logs.
  • Please do not run any scans other than those requested and do not post any logs/reports unless specifically requested to do so.
  • Please follow all instructions in the order posted.
  • If you have any questions or do not understand instructions, please ask before continuing.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Your security program(s) may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.

Fix HijackThis entries

Note: I recommend that you do not have any entries in the Trusted Zone. The other two entries I am asking you to fix are legitimate, but believed to be causing the error messages you are experiencing. Fixing them will not delete the files and reverting the fix can be easily done.

Start HijackThis

  • From the Main Menu, click Do a system scan only
  • When the scan finishes...Place a check mark next to the following entries
  • Note: Only check those items listed below.
    Code: Select all
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DMAScheduler] c:\Program Files\Sonic\DigitalMedia Plus\DigitalMedia Archive\DMAScheduler.exe
    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.trymedia.com (HKLM)
    O23 - Service: Ati HotKey Poller - ATI Technologies Inc. - C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe
  • After checking these items... CLOSE ALL open windows except HijackThis.
  • Click the Fix Checked button to remove the entries you checked.
  • Choose YES when prompted to fix the selected items.
  • Once it has fixed them, close HijackThis.

Please reboot your computer and post back with information regarding the error messages reappearing or not.

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Malware Removal forum, include a fresh HijackThis log, and wait for a new helper.

If you have been helped and wish to donate to help with the costs of this volunteer site,
please read Donations For Malware Removal
