After i type in Y and hit enter/return the window closes, it did this yesterday as well, i don't get the chance to type 'exit' . I did see on the restart that my computer did do the chkdsk process though. just wondering if that is another sign of a problem?

defrag is taking FOREVER, it has been 6 hours, i am on an old computer now, how long do i wait?

THere are a bunch of stats on my screen and the last line is

"Note: On NTFS volumes, file fragments larger than 64MB are not incluided in the fragmentation statistics"
Then below that is a cursor blinking. on a blank line, no C:\, etc. just the cursor by itself

my harddrive lite is on so it does look as though the harddrive is doing something,

is it ok when my computer screensaver comes on? and when my computer screen goes black? if i touch the mouse it comes back on, it doesn't appear to be giong "to sleep" just powersaver for screen????

anyway, how long do i wait? is it ok to just leave it or do i need to cut power and restart?

Hi,
Do restart your system and provide to me with the log below.

  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it finishes, two logs will open.
    • log.txt will be opened maximized
    • info.txt will be opened minimized
  • Please post the contents of both logs in your next post.
***You can find manually the log at C:\rsit

What you need to post
Checklist.
  • Content of log.txt and info.txt (Find both in c:\rsit)

I accidentily closed the defrag last night, and so i redid the process that you had sent earilier, i didn't see this post yet. it seemed to take an hour?? maybe a bit more or less, then the chkdsk process, took quite a while, not sure how long as once it got to step 4 of 5 it was proceeding very slow so i went to bed, it was done by this am. anyway, i did as your later post asked, here are results,

Also this time i was able to type 'exit' to close the window.

I also tried once again this morning to update windows and i keep getting the same error code 800070422
i can't remember when i first had this problem, but i think it has been quite a while, that is probably why i had that registry booster program- was an attempt to fix things, i have also in the past made different changes to my startup processes, but don't remember what, should i go and let everything 'run'? instead of a partial list of stuff actually wanting to run?
