Are these sites fake AV alerts?

Unread postby yeto » December 3rd, 2010, 8:39 am

While I was browsing the internet these sites popped up:

www1.joavailable.in
www1.secureasne.in

The only way I could escape these sites was to restart my computer. Clicking on the red x in the upper right hand corner of IE only made a pop up appear saying that my computer was infected and did I really want to exit the page.

Have I infected my computer? Please be careful going to these sites as if they are not legit I don't want you to experience any problems. So far my computer seems to be working find. I did a scan with MS Essentials and Trend Micro's HouseCall and everything looks fine.

Would someone please look over my HijackThis log and uninstall list?

Re: Are these sites fake AV alerts?

Unread postby Wingman » December 3rd, 2010, 10:32 am

Your HJT log shows that you're using a 64 bit operating system.

May I draw your attention to THIS topic, which you should have read before posting for help.

Unfortunately, the tools we use to analyze and remove infections do not work properly on a 64 bit operating system and their results cannot be relied upon. Because of this, it is almost impossible for us to correctly diagnose problems and the fixes we might offer could potentially do as much damage to your computer as any infection you might have.

Due to the reasons stated above, we do not at this time offer support for 64 bit operating systems. We are sorry that we are currently unable to assist you.

This topic is now closed.
