Fixing a friend's computer

I'm having trouble with a friend's computer. He brought me the laptop because he thinks he has a virus(I agree). Here is what I have done so far:

-There was a program called bit defender, I removed it.
-I attempted to install avg free, but when I clicked on the link via google search, I got an error stating that the page could not be loaded. The message said the link would not... return? a valid url. I dont remember the exact verbiage.
-i pulled a dl link from cnet on my laptop and typed it exactly into the infected computers address bar(using firefox). I was able to dl and install AVG Free.
-I attempted to run AVG. It would not run.
- I booted in safe mode and ran AVG. It found a bunch of stuff, for which I have the log. Some things were not removable.
- I rebooted in normal mode and got these two error messages:

the specified module could not be found

error loading c:\windows\system32\puwisuro.dll
the specified module could not be found

-I attempted to run an AVG scan. When I clicked the AVG icon in the tray, resident shield popped up with a detected threat named kapigagi.dll.
-I tried to open the task manager, when I did, resident shield popped up with a detected threat named kapigagi.dll.
- I tried to open firefox, when I did, resident shield popped up with a detected threat named kapigagi.dll
-i rebooted in safe mode.
-I loaded a malwarebytes setup exe via disc. After installation, I attempted to run malewarebytes. I got an error message that the malwarebytes executable could not be found(I forget the name of the exe) Per the malwarebytes forum, I copied a renamed executable to the malewarbytes program file. I got a new error message(I dont remember the name)
-I tried to uninstall and reinstall using links from the malwarebytes forum. It still would not run
-I shut down the computer.
- I rebooted some 10 minutes later. VIOLA- AVG will now run in normal mode. I am doing a full system scan now.


I do not have a hijackthis log or an uninstall list. I thought it wise not to stop the AVG scan. I'm posting what I have anyhow, jic the information I do have can give a head start

OK. The AVG scan finished, it found nothing. I dl'd malewarebytes and it is currently running a scan. And here is the hijackthis log:
