Hello, I appear to be having an identical problem to pjso and vortexal.

I am running: XP Pro 2002 service pack 3. I got a warning from Norton Antivirus about a media link I clicked and I closed the window, but now my audio is constantly reset to zero, multiple IE processes run in the background and sometimes I get popups or audio.

Norton and Spybot foudn nothing. MalwareBytes removed some registry entries but upon rebooting, problem was unresolved. Please help!

(is it safe to backup my documents to an external hard drive or should I wait til this is resolved? long story short I had just wiped my backups to do a new set after a reinstall of the security software when I realized there was a problem. Figures.)
