Hey all,

I was wondering if some of the knowledgeable folks here could give me a little information. I recently signed onto my AOL account only to find several names in my buddy list I did not place there. I also started receiving IMs from people I did not know, who would not respond to me when I tried to learn who they were. Needless to say, this sent up a red flag.

I used Adaware to scan my system the next day, and it told me I had contracted something known as win32.trojanspy.wildtangent. I have since reformatted my computer.

I searched out information on this particular piece of malware, but everything I've found so far has been very general. Can someone please tell me exactly what win32.trojanspy.wildtangent does, and if this is the likely culprit for my AOL issue? I would greatly appreciate the information!

By posting just a description of your problems it is likely that your topic will be passed by and you will not receive the help you're looking for.

We need to know what's running on your computer so that we can give you appropriate instructions.

May I draw your attention to THIS topic, which you should have read, and which tells you what we need you to post so that we can help you.

This thread will now be closed.

If you still need help, please start a new thread with:-

  • An Uninstall list.
  • Details of the problems you're experiencing.

If for any reason you can't run HijackThis, please let us know in your post.
